2016 - St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Walk

St. Judes MA HOBY Volunteers

On September 24, an enthusiastic group of MA HOBY volunteers met at Franklin Zoo for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital walk to raise funds to fight childhood cancer. The setting was exciting as the walking/running route wove around the zoo so that both participants and volunteers could observe and enjoy the animals. The volunteers were given flags, noise makers, beads and capes to help spread the excitement. We cheered on the participants and showed them the path to stay on. The children on the walk laughed at the high fives the volunteers gave them! We stayed and helped with the clean up and the taking down and putting away of the St. Jude promotional material and supplies. It was a gorgeous day and everyone had lots of fun and felt good about showing the participants the appreciation that they deserved. The organizers thanked us and said that our energy helped to make the day fun and rewarding!
