2015 CLeW: Pentucket Regional High School
On January 17th, 45 High School Freshmen from across Massachusetts joined HOBY staff at Pentucket Regional High School in West Newbury, MA for our annual Community Leadership Workshop (CLeW). The day offered a sampling of our three day program for sophomores. We had inspiring speakers, large group activities, team building exercises and community service. Our first speaker, Nick Kranz from Something GUD did an excellent job of explaining what is required and the steps to follow in building a business based on your personal passion and desires. His explanations provided examples of how to use your leadership skills to bring together talented individuals to form a powerful and impactful group. He showed that being committed to your passion can help you overcome obstacles and to achieve your goals. Keith Frankel from Creative Minds, graphically illustrated the importance of focusing your time on positive and productive subjects. Setting priorities in your life will help you achieve positive results. The activities helped the students discover more about themselves and that even a small act of kindness can have an impactful ripple effect to better our communities. The students engaged in a community service activity where they made cheerful cards of encouragement for the patients at the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a partner of MA HOBY. The day ended with students learning more about themselves and wanting to make a positive difference in the world. MA HOBY staff is very grateful to the Pentucket Regional High School staff for their help and support in holding this meaningful workshop.
