Awards

Each August, HOBY International proudly recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of its affiliates and volunteers at its 70 sites through volunteer achievement awards.

  • Awards for HOBY Affiliate Corporations - Awards are based upon overall performance and the completion of milestones in the areas of Management, Finance, Program and Public Relations.
  • Awards for Leadership Seminar Chairpersons - Leadership Seminars are evaluated in 6 categories: Seminar Management, Finance/Fundraising, HOBY Service Organizations, Program, Team Leadership and Recruitment.
  • Awards for Alumni Advisors - Alumni Programs are evaluated based upon a point system awarded for Management, Development, and Other Activities.
  • Awards for Directors of Recruitment - Awards for the Directors of Recruitment are given to those seminars that achieve 100% of their student recruitment goal for the year.

For the 2016/20177 Program Year Massachusetts earned the highest level, OUTSTANDING, award for each of the above four categories. For the tenth year in a row, MA HOBY achieved this high level of accomplishment!

MA HOBY’s Gail Elmore was also recognized for the CLeW she directed.

For the 2015/2016 Program Year Massachusetts earned the highest level, OUTSTANDING, award for each of the above four categories. For the tenth year in a row, MA HOBY achieved this high level of accomplishment!

MA HOBY’s Gail Elmore was also recognized for the CLeW she directed.

MA HOBY was awarded two special recognition certificates. One for reaching five consecutive years of reaching our recruitment goal and one for reaching ten consecutive years of reaching our recruitment goal.

For the 2014/2015 Program Year Massachusetts earned the highest level, OUTSTANDING, award for each of the above four categories. For the nineth year in a row, MA HOBY achieved this high level of accomplishment!

MA HOBY’s Gail Elmore was also recognized for the CLeW she directed.

MA HOBY was awarded the superlative of “Largest increase percentage of seminar volunteers that are HOBY alumni”.

We were also very proud that our President, Gail Elmore, was selected one of two volunteers to be the 2015 HOBY Volunteer of the Year! The other recipient was Caryll Lawrence, a volunteer at the VA site. HOBY has over 5,200 volunteers every year. Christine Elmore, with the support of the MA HOBY Directors, wrote the nomination for this award. A national committee reviewed all of the nominations and made the final selections. The CEO of HOBY, Javier La Fianza had this to say to Gail “We appreciate all you do for HOBY, both in MA and throughout the country. You've had a huge impact on our organization, ambassadors, volunteers and alumni. This is a well earned and deserved honor for sure.”

For the 2013/2014 Program Year Massachusetts earned the highest level, OUTSTANDING, award for each of the above four categories. For the eighth year in a row, MA HOBY achieved this high level of accomplishment!

MA HOBY’s Luke Fraser was also recognized for the CLeW he directed.

For the 2012/2013 Program Year Massachusetts earned the highest level, OUTSTANDING, award for each of the above four categories. For the seventh year in a row, MA HOBY was the only site in the nation to accomplish this achievement!

For the 2011/2012 Program Year Massachusetts earned the highest level, OUTSTANDING, award for each of the above four categories. For the sixth year in a row, MA HOBY was the only site in the nation to accomplish this achievement!

We are very proud of the dedicated volunteers who continually push MA HOBY forward and bring the positive HOBY message to the youth in our state!

For the 2009/2010 Program Year Massachusetts earned the highest level, OUTSTANDING, award for each of the above four categories. For the fourth year in a row, MA HOBY was the only site in the nation to accomplish this achievement!
